Fun day with Photoshop

Just the other day I was watching the Skrillex video Equinox and came up with this idea.  If you having watched the video go on to Youtube and check it out.  It’s dubstep, so if you’re not familiar with that kind of music be prepared for some crazy bass dropping in this song.

The picture below is my niece that I convinced to where the hood and pose for me. After a few shots of testing the lights in different postion I think setting my flash to my right would give me the look I’m looking for.  I took about total of 10 shots before my niece attention dwindled to nothing.  But I think I got the shot I wanted.

Using LightRoom to do some adjusting, then transfer to Photoshop.  I’m still fairly new to photoshop so my blending of the layers is not as good as I would like.  But after about 20 layers I think I got want I wanted.

What do yall think?…yay or nay.

Lamborghini Festival 2012

The first Lamborghini Festival for Houston,TX was held at La Tranquila Ranch this past weekend.  I didn’t have many expectations since it was their first event but when I got to the venue it was really more than I expected. My initial thoughts were that La Tranquila Ranch was a restaurant; the name sounds catchy like one, but it was actually a banquet and reception hall and a really nice one too.

I arrived early to scout a spot for set up so I could get some shots of the cars rolling in.  I found a great spot in a shaded area with a great line of sight of the driveway the cars were supposed to drive through. All that work and the cars were 30 mins late! During that time people started to show up to the event which meant my great spot was no longer a great a spot as people started to stand in front of me and block my view.  No matter, I can still get my shots in and move elsewhere.

Finally the cars show up.  You can hear the distinct sound of an exotic cars high horsepower engine coming down the street.  The first car was an electric blue lambo leading the pack of what eventually grew to 50 cars that drove through the venue.  It was quite a unique experience for me to see all those Lamborghinis in a row.  As expected I was only able to get off a few shots from my original spot before I had to move.  I was able to get a spot at the end of the driveway that enabled me to get some head on shots of the cars rolling in. Of course, that spot didn’t last too long either because shortly after that a motorcycle police officer parked right in front of me to direct the cars in.  I eventually gave up and walked over to the parking lot where I got my last shots of the day in.

I had a really great time at this first Lamborghini Festival.  To be able to see all those Lamborghini rolling up in a single line was quite…cool for lack of a better word.   I hope the Lamborghini community will put on another great show like this one next year;  I’ll definitely be making it back soon.

Lone Star Round Up Favorite Pick

This is my favorite pick from the Lone Star Round Up car show.  I try to find the owner of this car at the car show.  Asked a few people who was standing by the car, but no one knew who the owner was.  I would have like to ask him about the car and how much time was put into this paint job. Details in the paint job is amazing.  All I know is the car is in Hellions car club.  I try to look them up on google and found a web page but didn’t find any info on the car itself.  But anyways here it is my favorite pick from the car show.  ENJOY!

2012 Lone Star Round Up – Part One

This past weekend we made a road trip to Austin TX for the 2012 Lone Star Round Up.  This event featured hot rods and custom cars that people from all over the country come to attend.  My original plans were to head up to Austin on Friday night and attend the show all day Saturday.  But as life goes, plans got changed and I had to attend the show on Friday.  In my mind I was thinking the Friday show wouldn’t be up to par with the Saturday show since most people are still at work.  Man I was wrong! I guess no one gives a shit about work when the Lone Star Round Up is going on! When I got there at 11am there was already a line at the gate with show cars already rolling in to their parking spot.  Even the general parking lot had custom motorcycles and hot rods.

When I finally made my way through the gate I was greeted by some amazing machinery.  These cars looked awesome from the distance – the paint job, the wheel, and the stance.  The closer you got to these beauties the better they looked. Even the rat rods have some detail that you wouldn’t have seen unless you got closer; you can really admire the care and detail put into these cars.

This was my first time to the show and I was really impressed with the people there.  At car shows I normally keep to myself while taking my photos, finding the best possible angles takes concentration, but the people here at this car show were super cool.  People were smiling and nodding their heads as I walk passed all the while starting conversations with me about their car.

I’m sure meeting these people in any other place they wouldn’t speak to you, but it’s true what they say, cars do bring people together.  Here though, we both know we have something in common and that’s a love for cars.  It was a nice experience at the Lone Star Round Up. I give this car show two thumbs up for the awesome cars and the awesome people.

Definitely coming back to this car show next year and hopefully taking an actual mini vacation to Austin. After all, it’s only a two hour drive away.

Remember to check back for part two of the Lone Star Round Up.

Coffee and Cars April Edition

April’s edition of Coffee and Cars fell on the most perfect spring Saturday yet.  It was nice and cool while walking in the shade, but warm and cozy when the sun rose.  It couldn’t have been better weather if you ask me.  I stopped by this month’s coffee and cars for a quick walk through; had a lot to do that morning. You know me though, I had to squeeze in my car fix before I start my day.

Thanks for stopping by!

TX2K12 Race Day

TX2K12 is a drag race that started back in 2000 with only Toyota Supra.  Now it’s a national car event that attracts racer from all over the country.  Not only are there Supras but also on hand are Porsche’s, Viper’s, Lambo’s, Vette’s, Nissan’s GTR, etc.  There were some serious cars out this year.  This was a two-day event.  I couldn’t make it out to both days which I was pretty bummed out about.  I made my way out on Sunday, which was the eliminations.  I gotta tell ya, these guys don’t play around.

"what that heck is that hole for??"
